Participatory Research
April 19 2022For several years, AgroParisTech has worked to strengthen ties between science and society and develop open science, defined as a series of methods and systems that allow all stakeholders, both academics and non-academics, to freely access and participate in research. As part of these efforts, the school encourages participatory research approaches—in other words, jointly developing and conducting research projects with all those who wish to participate.
This encouragement takes the form of support for several research projects that involve outside stakeholders such as civil society, schools, and/or territorial players. For example, the BIRDLab project collects bird-related data, while the European BUG project helps schools in French Guiana collect information on ants and mushrooms. Several other projects exist that aim to identify group processes needed to support the creation of local multi-stakeholder projects that are consistent with public policies.
A member of ALISS, AgroParisTech works together with organizations looking to develop cooperation between civil society and public higher education and research institutions to expand participatory research.
